The nearest international
airports are Lisbon (about 200 km) and Oporto (about 100 km). Both
cities are connected to Coimbra by train and by bus.
The A1
motorway that connects Lisbon to Oporto passes by Coimbra.
Coimbra has two railway
stations: “Coimbra station” near the center, and “Coimbra B” (the main
station) in the northern part of the town.Trains from Lisbon or Oporto
stop at Coimbra B (where you have to leave the train). To reach “Coimbra
station” you should take a second train (no extra ticket is required for
this short trip).

How to travel from Lisbon to Coimbra |
To reach
Coimbra by train:
You
can take an express train (“Alfa pendular” or “Intercidades”) at one of
the main Lisbon railway stations. These are “Gare do Oriente” and
“Santa Apolónia”. The train schedules can be found at

The
train ticket costs 15.00€ to 17.00€ for an “Alfa pendular” (depending on
the schedule) or 12.00€ for an “Intercidades”.
Gare
do Oriente is closer to the airport. You can reach it by taxi or by bus.

go from the airport to Gare do Oriente by bus:
Take
bus number 44 near the arrivals terminal in the direction “Moscavide”.
Step down at the stop “Pavilhão multiusos – Gare do Oriente”. For the

express line, “aerobus” (nº 91). It starts near the arrivals terminal
and you must step down at the stop “Saldanha”. Then walk about 200m to
